Yesterday I started the journey “Enterprise in Action” program as a Dream Coach volunteer of the #JASchool, at a secondary school in Melegnano (MI). The aim of the program is to bring students, between the ages of 16 and 19, to the labor market through a practical experience of entrepreneurship (the goal is to set-up a start-up).
I was positively impressed by the multitude of ideas that students have: valuable and scalable (some suggestions for companies run out of ideas …)
I think the initiative is very valid and pragmatic: I believe that we need to share knowledge with the younger generations and give them awareness that they are part of a much larger community and ecosystem.
For this reason I started the lesson by showing a video Start with Why by @SimonSinek, where everything starts from Why we do things, for Whom and what are our values. In the end everyone clap. Thanks Simon.
In this first lesson we evaluated all their ideas generated and we have discarded some, unrealizable.
The students learnt three fundamental concepts:
- Without data you are just another person with an opinion (W.E. Deming)
- Know what you are deciding (Stratego)
- When a person presents an idea, anyone must always be active listening, clear his/her mind from prejudices and asking questions until anyone has understood the purpose of that idea => enrich one’s own decision frame and others
To be continued, looks like.
